Tutorial for Perfect Hello Kitty Bows =•.•=

Let's cut to the chase. This is a quick post to show you how to make the perfect Hello Kitty Bow by using Wilton's Hello Kitty Cake Pan as a mold. You will also need a microwave safe bowl, small rubber spatula, Wilton Candy Melts, microwave, and a refrigerator or freezer.

When mixing or handling candy melts make sure you do not introduce anything that has water into the candy melt wafers, in doing so, you will ruin the candy; so make sure to wipe your hands, rubber spatula, HK Pan and bowl with a dry cloth or paper towels before proceeding to melt the candy wafers.

1) Pour about 30 pieces of candy melts into the microwave safe bowl.
2) Melt the candy at 15 second intervals and gently stir in between, make sure you do not burn the candy, but should look silky and not clumpy in a spreadable consistency. Do not over mix to prevent adding unnecessary air bubbles to the candy.
3) Spread the melted candy into the well of Hello Kitty's bow and make sure to concentrate on the areas that may need extra strength. Lightly tap the pan to evenly distribute the melted candy and to eliminate bubbles (lightly tap the pan so you do not warp your pretty little cake pan or add permanent dents and dings).
4) Place the pan in the refrigerator or freezer for about 10 minutes until set and solid.
5) Once the bow is set, carefully tap it out onto your hand and voila. You can now adorn your perfect Hello Kitty Cake.

Rachel's Angry Birds ='.'=

Good MorNight!

My God-daughter, Miss Rachel turned 16 this August & I have not seen her like since forever. & I heard she would be in town for her surprise birthday party.

So I asked her mom what kinds of things would she like for her birthday. Whoo-hoo! As fate would have it, she has not ordered a cake yet. Although I've been very busy with "life", how could I resist this privilege. I've been MIA with most of my GD's life that I am super honored to bake & create something for her. According to the mom (Ate Rhizza) & her auntie (Ate Cyndi), Rachel doesn't like pink or Sanrio characters & that her favorite color is blue & loves chocolate. WHAT!?! So I pondered for a while and remembered that she "liked" my Angry Bird sugar cookies that I posted on FB. I decided to make her what I thought would be a great idea. Create a Rachel bird & use that for the cake.

When I had asked the hubby, what he thought of the sketch, he thought it looked great, but I wasn't happy with it at all. So I just started to play with fondant. & the 1st cake looked like this:

Then when I placed it in the fridge, the fondant & whipped cream frosting got ANGRY with one another & it bled&pooled&uglied together. The Rachel bird- didn't look angry at all, she looked scared & almost timid.

So the following day, I woke up super early to bake another cake. But first, here is a picture of the many pigs, that hubby requested I make.

& the final cake. It wouldn't be complete without Hello Kitty & a Pink Balloon to show my God-Daughter that HK/Sanrio & Pink is super cute, & I love to incorporate that into almost everything I make.

I know, I didn't learn my lesson with this cake, as you will see in the following pictures (Re: the fondant & whipped cream frosting combo).  So, I waited till the very last minute to put on the fondant deco, before delivering the cake in hopes that it could survive the party.

Not only did the fondant melt, but apparently the cake shifted in the box too.  :C

See that GORGEOUS smile!!!

Mission accomplished, my GD loved it! ==> My heart is super happy! :D

 & again I say Good MorNight!  ='.'=

Hubby's Birthday Month ='.'=

I've been married for a decade now this year. So I would like to introduce my better half in ICE CREAM CAKE form. He loves The San Diego SUPER Chargers, Ice Cream, Vanilla Pound Cake, & Hello Kitty (I mean ME) so this is what I came up with.

I used Wilton Cookie Cutters for the football & helmet (http://www.artofdessert.blogspot.com/ inspired this), Cricut Cake for the Hello Kitty. Circle Cutters in different sizes for his name plaque & Charger Bolt (cut slits & lighting-bolt effect using a paring knife).

Before slicing the cake, Andretti took a bite out of HK's poor head. He even placed it back on the cake just to make me cry.  :`C   What a meanie, but since it was his birthday & it was his cake, he can do "whateva" he wanted.  If you read http://maedbymaggie.blogspot.com/2011/09/foam-please.html  then you know exactly what that meant.

Slicing the cake was the HARD part. It was frozen solid. Bwahahaha (in my cynical laugh)!!! We had to dip the knife in very hot water multiple times. After a grueling five minutes and a lot of sweat and impatience appears two layers of plain vanilla pound cake. Plain-of course not, I added food coloring to make it rainbow & colorful.
AND...
My son, Ayden, my sou chef, the strawberry crazed kid picked strawberry ice cream to sandwich the layers together. I frosted the cake with my secret combo of Cool Whip & buttercream icing to finish & dazzle the frozen cake. Maybe I'll share that in a future post. Tee hee!

Rainbow Vanilla Pound Cake, just toooooo cute, even the husband was surprised.

It doesn't look too appetizing in this photo.
Looks more like melted crayons (I use to melt crayons & almost burned the house down... let's not get into too much details about that & I hope mom & dad or Kuya doesn't read this one. LOL!)

Too bad we couldn't add the candles, the hard as a rock, frozen solid layers would not allow for it. & since this cake was last year's cake. Does anyone have any suggestions for his upcoming birthday? I give you 5 days to help me out.  & yes, this is how they really look. :D My boys are FUNny.  ='.'=

Whew! This post wasn't so hard to do. Thank GOD for all the old pictures saved on http://www.facebook.com/
